UVSC Session Report
August 13, 2018 (Session #192)
(authored by BJ)

We welcomed another new attendee this week, Robbie, who saw our blurb in
the newspaper and decided to come check us out. He stayed for four
games, winning one of them and adjusting nicely to the club format. We
hope he is able to attend more sessions in the future! It was also
David's last visit for the summer, as he heads back to college in a few
days. In order to try to squeeze extra games in before his departure,
he and I played two very fast ones (15 minutes per player per game). In
one of those, he had already played three bingos and scored over 300
points with less than four minutes elapsed on his clock! He ended up
smoking me in that game, 458 to 341, using under 8 minutes of playing
time. Whew!

Eric also joined us for his first game in a while, and along with Ellen
and myself, we played 12 total games. Iliana had a rare absence; she
was not feeling well and you know it had to be serious to keep her away
from Scrabble. Feel better Iliana!

David had the high play of the night, bingoing with QUANTILE for 102,
while Robbie recorded the nice high nonbingo score of 75 for EQUIP. Our
other valid bingos (six phonies excluded!) were: SHELTER, RECOATS,
ATONIAS, TONIEST, MARLINE, EXSERTS, DEPLETE, GRIEVED, WAITERS, ANTIDOTE,
ENVIRONS, DENIALS, POLARISE, FATTIES, RADIATED, TENDERER, CRINGED,
NOODLES, NOOSING, and ANDANTE.

Pictured below are David and the board from his impressive speed game
win.
