UVSC Session Report
June 25, 2018 (Session #186)
(authored by BJ)

Today we had three visitors from their respective afars[1]: Tim,
Jeffrey, and David. A potluck ensued mid-session, catalyzed by a baked
ham from Jeffrey and including several contributions from the rest of
us. Jeffrey's 4-1 was tops in the win-loss category, I had the high
play with STAFFED for 96, and Tim had the high non-bingo play with ZONAE
for 74. As a close runner-up, the crazy-looking Collins-only word WAQF#
was played by Iliana for 69. According to Merriam-Webster, it is a type
of Islamic endowment of property, and can also be spelled WAKF#.

Bingos were plentiful, and there were some very interesting ones mixed
in with the more mundane. Of course, until style points are added in
the rules, they all garnered the exact same 50 bonus points, mundane or
otherwise. Here's the full list (excluding phonies): STRIPED, SADISTS,
MINTIER, TARRING, PRELATES, QUARTES, BIENNIAL, BETROTH, FREEBASE,
NITROSO, IGNITER, USUALLY, DELISTS, REMOVING, GOOIEST, PRECINCT,
CANDIES, SETTING, STAFFED, CAROTIDS, OREGANO, SENORITA, SLATIER,
PUMICES, RETIRING, RELAXIN (not RELAXING!), SECRETS, REFACED, UNTRACED,
ANEROIDS, FILINGS, AMUSERS, FITTABLE, REVOKE, IRONERS, GRUNTLED,
AIRWAYS, PELORIAN, EARSTONE, ROBINIAS, RELATES, DERANGED, TENFOLD,
LATHERS, RANDIES, HONOURS, NATURAL, ROUSING, OILIEST, URALITES, TRUDGENS.

[1] Yes, AFARS is a valid Scrabble word. It might just be one of the
most awkward sounding plural nouns out there!
