UVSC Session Report
April 9, 2018 (Session #175)
(authored by BJ)

Ellen, Iliana, Margaret and myself had a total of 8 games this week,
with some good battles and good bingos. I had a notable first rack in
one game, drawing ??AERST from the bag for my first turn of the game. I
went second in that game and ended up playing an 8-letter word through
an L, but from that rack there are 538 different 7-letter words possible
(TWL+CSW). I can't help but wonder if that's the 7-tile rack with the
most possible 7s by that measure. I checked a handful of others ones
(such as ??EIRST and ??AENST) and nothing else was above the low 300s.
For the record, FLOAT was the opening play by my opponent and there were
70 possible words I could have played through the F, 236 through the L,
234 through the O, 105 through the A, and 172 through the T. A few of
the more interesting possibilities were OXHEARTS, JAROSITE, TRISTEZA,
SEATWORK, TRAJECTS, OVERTASK, and FARTLEKS.

A selection of bingos that were actually played on the day includes
AIRSIDES, EMITTERS, TOLUENE, RELIERS, UNDERLIT, TARTINES#, STARLESS,
RANCHOS, RENVOIS, ANOETIC#, GIMLETS, SAUCIERS, DEMOTED, JAILERS,
PUTTEES, GAMINES, GASEOUS.

Pictured below is the (TWL) board with the opening rack discussed above.
